Offered here is the 2025 60th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of Nina Simone’s landmark I Put A Spell On You, issued by Verve Records to commemorate six decades since the album’s original 1965 release. And Verve did considerably more with this anniversary edition than simply put the album on colored vinyl.

60 YEARS OF I PUT A SPELL ON YOU

Originally released in June 1965, I Put A Spell On You became one of the defining albums of Nina Simone’s career.

It’s an album built around love, desire, independence and defiance, moving effortlessly between jazz, blues, soul and sophisticated orchestral arrangements.

Then there are the songs.

Simone took Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell On You” and turned it into something completely her own — dark, seductive and intense.

On Side Two is “Feeling Good,” a recording that has become every bit as important to later generations as it was when recorded. At the time this 60th Anniversary edition was released, “Feeling Good” had reached Double-Platinum certification in the United States.

THE ANNIVERSARY PRESSING

For me, this is where this particular copy becomes especially interesting.

Rather than producing a standard anniversary repress, Verve created a collector-oriented presentation specifically for the album’s 60th.

The record is pressed on appropriately named “Spellbound” splatter vinyl, giving each copy the dramatic appearance you would expect from an anniversary edition of an album called I Put A Spell On You.

More importantly for listeners, this edition was cut from original analog sources.

The packaging also received special treatment. The LP is housed in a deluxe jacket incorporating embossed metallic-gold elements, giving the anniversary release a premium presentation that distinguishes it from ordinary reissues of the album.

It’s a beautiful tribute to one of Nina Simone’s most celebrated records.

CONDITION

This copy is NEW and FACTORY SEALED.

It has never been opened or played, so the vinyl is presumed Mint.

Because it remains factory sealed, I have not opened the jacket to inspect the record or its individual splatter pattern. As is normal with splatter and other specialty vinyl, the exact pattern can vary from record to record.

Please look closely at my photographs for the condition of the jacket, corners, edges and factory shrink. The photos show the actual copy being offered and are part of my description.
