The WWF The Wrestling Album Vinyl LP (BFE 40223) was released in 1985 by CBS Epic Records. This 33 RPM LP features various artists and is made of black vinyl. This LP includes original cover art and is in a gatefold format. The record label is Epic, and the release title is The WWF Wrestling Album.

During the wrestling boom of the late '90s, many small name video and music companies tried to release anything they could to cash in. The fine folks at Koch decided to take advantage of the nostalgia for old wrestling by digging up The Wrestling Album, an album recorded by the WWF wrestling personalities from 1985. Hosted radio-style by announcer "Mean" Jean Okerlund, company owner Vince McMahon, and future governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura, this is about as low as an album can get. The humor value alone is enough to deserve a listen or two, but there is little here that can really qualify as listenable music. The best song here is by special guest musician Rick Derringer, whose "Real American" was actually played on rock radio in the '80s due to the incredible success of wrestler Hulk Hogan (it was his theme song). The second best song here is Hogan's theme song before "Real American," included here as "Hulk Hogan's Theme." Strangely enough, it was written and recorded by Meat Loaf mastermind Jim Steinman. But outside of a cheesy (yet oddly catchy) rock song by wrestling manager/songwriter Jimmy Hart, the rest of the music here is truly awful. The worst offender is "Captain Lou's History of Music/Captain Lou." a noisy jumble of bad singing and yelling that was co-written by Cyndi Lauper! Coming close is the cover of "Land of a Thousand Dances." featuring all of the wrestlers singing in their tuneless, catch phrase-spewing glory. Most of the songs sung by the wrestlers are passed off as "soul" music, although no one at Motown need worry.
